GIZ works with UNICEF Cambodia to support the development of minimum requirements for WASH in Schools led by the MoEYS School Health Department, following principles of the ‘Three Star Approach for WASH in Schools’. Through a collaboration with the FIT program, UNICEF Cambodia provided 1,000 WASHaLOT group washing facilities to 147 schools in Phnom Penh and other 4 provinces.

In 2014, School Health Department, GIZ and World Vision signed an agreement to implement the Fit for School Program in 4 schools in Preah Vihear province. The collaboration would cover over 1,000 students in the remote districts of the province and ensure that the students have access to water and group washing facilities, and are able to practice the daily group handwashing and toothbrushing activities.
